Music You Can Use

We always love to pass along new music when it hits our ears, and we did just that on the January 11th, 2018 episode.

Kicked things off with Black Label Society. New album from them, Grimmest Hits (Surprisingly not a Greatest Hits) will be available January 19th, and this is the first single,

“Room Of Nightmares”

Then we took a hard right from that to talk about Justin Timberlake. He has a disc coming out February 2nd called Man of the Woods, and if you didn’t like him before, wait until you hear this very Prince sounding song, “Filthy”

Of course we had to bring up the fact that a band local to us, Breaking Benjamin, finally gave us a taste of their album Ember. No release date just yet, but word around the street is you’ll be able to preorder it on the 26th. The taste came from a song called “Red Cold River”

And finally the Stone Temple Pilots are back! This time with singer Jeff Gutt, who you’d know if you watched Season 2 or 3 of the X-Factor. Man, does he sound like the late, great Scott Weiland. Don’t believe us, check out this tune, “Meadow”

The Stone Temple Pilots Have a New Singer…and a New Song

The Stone Temple Pilots have been without a singer since 2015, when Chester Bennington left the band, and have been searching ever since.

Then Tuesday, November 14th happened when they did a last minute show in L.A., revealing Jeff Gutt as the new front man. You probably have no idea who he is, unless you watch The X-Factor, where he was a contestant in 2013.

But it wasn’t just a show they gave us, because right as that was happening, a new song became available for purchase.

See what you think of this tune called “Meadow”

Music You Can Use

Love is music. Music is Love, which is why we like to keep you on the up and up on all the stuff you should be discovering.

On our September 21st, 2017 episode, we reviewed a few albums starting with the granddaddy from the Foo Fighters, Concrete and Gold. This album is straight out of the 70’s, taking influences from bands such as Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Prince, and even the Mamas and the Papas. Plus, the guest appearances are quite the array with spots by Sir Paul McCartney, Boyz II Men’s Shawn Stockman, and Justin Timberlake!

Then we went to a newer band, Greta Van Fleet, who are so young, some of the members just graduated high school THIS YEAR! So far all they’ve given us is a 4 song EP called Black Smoke Rising, but if that’s a taste of what’s to come, we’re in for a treat from this band.

Queens of the Stone Age gave us our next offering with the album Villains, which isn’t too far from the wheel house we’ve come to enjoy from them.

And we gave some love to a local band to us named Behind the Gray. Not because of nepotism, but because their new album, Treason, needs to be heard by the masses.

Finally we ended things out with a new single from 30 Seconds to Mars called “Walk on Water”. No word on when the album will get released, but if the single’s here, you’d have to imagine it’s not too far away.

So there you have it. Now, you need to listen to the episode linked above, and see if your opinions side with ours.

Music You Can Use

If you’re an avid listener to the show, it should be no surprise that we love music, and that’s why when we hear something that perks out interests, we want to make sure you know about it.

On the July 6th, 2017 edition of Music You Can Use, we kicked things off in a big way with the new one from the Foo Fighters called “Run”.

The new album, Concrete and Gold, will hit our hands September 15th in what Dave Grohl is proclaiming will be the Sgt Pepper of Foo albums. Pretty high bar to hold yourself too, but if anyone can do it, it’s the Foo Fighters. In addition to that, the band is promising guest appearances, one being from the “Biggest Pop Star in the World now”. Some have speculated it would be Adele, but nothing has been confirmed just yet.

One thing we do know is that one of the tracks will feature a collaboration with Boyz II Men. If that doesn’t make you realize how eclectic this album will be, I’m not sure what will. Now, as a bonus for visiting our site, here’s another new tune from the album the Foo Fighters unleashed on a crowd in Paris called “Dirty Water”.

But we didn’t just talk about the Foo Fighters, we also dove into this band that’s really gaining some steam called Greta Van Fleet. There’s no way your not ready for a party once you listen to this song called “Highway Tune”.

If you’re wondering when the albums coming out, it actually already did back in April, although we’re willing to bet Greta Van Fleet sees a tad more sales now than back a couple months ago.

Following that up, we did some album reviews, starting out with Stone Sour’s very diverse Hydrograd.

Neat story behind the name of this album name, but we’ll let you listen to the episode to hear that (link at the top of this post)

And finally, it was the new disc from Rise Against named Wolves.

So, what are you waiting for?!? Get this music now, so you’ll be the one ahead of the curve.

Chris Cornell Has Died

(Photo: CBS News)

When you think of the best vocalists in rock music, Chris Cornell has to be up in the top 5.

Unfortunately he decided to take his own life after a show in Detroit, which seems a little foretelling now, with his last song being a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “In My Time of Dying”.

Needless to say this is a huge loss to the rock and music world, and we hope Chris Cornell will forever Rock in Peace.

Music You Can Use (New Foo Fighters’ Song!)

We know you love music, so that’s why we want to educate you whenever something new comes out.

In our May 18th, 2017 episode  we took you through a journey of new album.

First up was the latest from All That Remains called Madness.

Then we moved into the brand new one from Seether named Poison the Parish, which garnered quite the response from our crew. Here’s the single “Let You Down”.

And if you thought our musical knowledge ended at rock, we threw you a curve ball and checked out the new album from The Zac Brown Band,  Welcome Home. Here’s the latest single, “Roots”.

Finally, if you listened to the episode, we promised you a new tune from the Foo Fighters. They debuted this at Sammy Hagar’s benefit show, Acoustic 4 A Cure IV, this is “The Sky Is A Neighborhood”

So, what are you waiting for? Go get to your local record store now!

Music You Can Use

It’s been awhile since we shared with you some of the new music we’re loving, and that’s why on the April 13th, 2017 episode we did just that with our segment “Music You Can Use”

First up was our review of the new album from Mastodon, Emperor of Sand. If you haven’t heard this yet, you’re one of the few, because it ended up being the band’s first number 1 album.

This is the single, “Show Yourself”

Then we took a listen to some new singles, including one from Incubus called “Nimble Bastard”. This will be off their 8th studio album, fittingly called 8and according to some leaked photos, we should be hearing a track on it featuring Skrillex, and Deftones’ Chino Moreno.

We move on to a band local to our area, Motionless in White. Their new album, Graveyard Shift, is looking to be a monster, including Korn’s Jonathan Davis on a track.

Check out the first track, “Loud”

Seether was the next band on the docket with the song “Let You Down”, off their May 12th release Poison the Parish. Neat fact about the album name, singer Shaun Morgan got it from his hatred of social media celebrities, like the Kardashians. Can’t say we blame him.

Finally we rounded things out with the latest from Papa Roach. New album, Crooked Teeth, hits your hands May 19th, and according to Jacoby Shaddix he’ll be rapping on at least half of it.

This is the song, “Help”.

So now that you heard the goods, hear what we had to think of them on this very music-induced episode.
