They’re Making Us Wait Longer for Star Wars Episode VIII

Remember how awesome Star Wars: The Force Awakens was? Remember how completely stoked we were that we only had to wait roughly a year and a half for Episode VIII?

Well…PSYCHE, SUCKAH!

Episode VIII director, Rian Johnson sent out the following tweet after it was announced that the release date for Episode VIII had been pushed back by SEVEN MONTHS.

Granted, this might be good in the sense that it gives the production crew more time to perfect the movie, and to finish up those frantic rewrites that are apparently going on. And, of course, we’re still getting the Anthology story Rogue One next year to tide us over, but still…poppycock.

Plus, may is Star Wars Month. It just doesn’t feel “right” doing this in December.

A New Suicide Squad Trailer Makes Us Root for the Villains

Late last night, Warner Bros. released the brand new trailer for Suicide Squad from, director David Ayer.

This is really interesting, because this universe (The DC Cinematic Universe) has often been chided by fans for being dour and depressing. Yet this film, about a bunch of murderous psychopaths, seems (at least for now) like it’s the most fun we’ll be having at the movies this year. Is it that, in a universe so dark and gloomy where everything is in shades of grey, we are getting a sort of “Stockholm Syndrome” and the villains are starting to look like our friends rather than our enemies? I guess we’ll have to wait until August 5th to find out.

Also, for what it’s worth, Jared Leto’s Joker looks better all the time.

We Can’t Believe These Movies Are Turning 20 Years Old

This list of movies turning 20 years old is both unbelievable and depressing at the same time (Except for Ian, who was only 4 at the time) .

Think about it, hits such as “From Dusk Till Dawn”, “Happy Gilmore”, and “Fargo” are all 20 years old this year.

Excuse us as we go drink are old age away (Again, except Ian)

10 Cloverfield Lane Surprises Everyone

Somehow, some way, in today’s day and age when we know every single detail about a movie even before it hits theaters, J.J. Abrams has once again managed to catch us all off guard.

During screenings for Michael Bay’s 13 Hours, rumors began circulating about a sequel (…or prequel…or side-quel) to Abrams’s 2008 found-footage, giant monster extravaganza (which was also made in the utmost secrecy), Cloverfield. I balked at the original news, as there hasn’t been substantial news of a Cloverfield-related anything since at least 2010. But I, along with every other doubter, was put right in my place when Paramount Pictures released the trailer online…

This is legitimately blowing my mind that, not only did this movie get made completely in secret, but it’s slated for release in MARCH. That’s less than two months from now.

You’ve done it again, Mr. Abrams. Bravo! As one of the few who genuinely enjoyed Cloverfield, I can’t wait to see what new mystery will be unraveled by this new movie.

10 Cloverfield Lane hits theaters on March 11th.

Literally Anyone Could Have Made the Kick Blair Walsh Missed

Photo: Brace Hemmelgarn

Ever since Minnesota Vikings’ kicker, Blair Walsh, missed a 27-yard, game-winning kick in the final moments of the Vikings’ loss to Seattle at home in the 2016 Wild Card round of the playoffs, thereby embarrassing himself, the team, the organization, and the entire bleeding fanbase, I’ve been making the argument that even I, with zero experience playing football, could have made that kick.

Apparently, I’m not the only one who feels that way, since many videos have popped up online with Average Joes attempting (and in many cases, making) the kick. But this one, of a mechanic in jeans and work boots, has to be my favorite (and most likely to cause me to self-harm):

(Watch for some NSFW language at the very end)

He’s in JEANS and WORK BOOTS, Blair! You should QUIT THE GAME, Blair! And don’t give me any garbage excuses about lace position. It was 27 YARDS! You should have been able to hit that with your eyes closed.

Man, do I hate my team…

Was Sean Penn the Cornerstone to El Chapo’s Capture?

(Photo: news.vice.com)

The El Chapo Story has gotten even more bizarre.

On Saturday Night, Rolling Stone published a feature story, authored by Sean Penn (Yes, thee Sean Penn), who met the drug lord back in October.

Penn stated “He never could have arranged a secret meeting with cartel kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman. And it all started with a tweet”. That tweet coming from Mexican actress, Kate Castillo.
